They flew from Manchester to Barcelona with easyJet, taking the 6.20am plane then returned on the 10.05 later that day.

While they didn’t say how much they paid, they can be found for just £24.99 according to the easyJet website, with flights taking just a few hours.

Rachel said it was easy to get into the city centre by bus or train too, taking around 20 minutes.

When there, they hit some fo the tourist destinations of Barcelona.

They explained: “We start at Casa Batllo, take a trip down La Rambla (the Rambles) have a look around the famous La Boqueria food market.

“We have a quick stop in the Gothic Quarter, where we enjoy a bit of traditional Spanish tapas.

“Down the the marina next, then around the corner to the beach.

“Next we have a trip on a cable car and then to Gaudi’s masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia.

“We finish the trip off with a stop at a lovely tapas bar, enjoy a nice cold beer and a sangria, before making our way back to the airport to return to the UK.”

While they had to start the day early at 2:30am – and didn’t get home for another 23 hours – they decided to try the trick after doing a similar day holiday to Amsterdam from the UK.

They also said they barely spent any money – seeing as they didn’t have to pay for a hotel overnight – and only had to pay for tourists attractions and two meals.

Will said they wanted to try it themselves to “show people what could be done in a short space of time and the great places you can get to”.

People on YouTube were impressed by the attempt.

One person wrote: “Wow – cannot believe you did Barcelona in a day! You packed so much in.”

Another said: “I wish any of my days were half as exciting.”

A third agreed: “I’m so jealous you were able to travel and do this in one day.”

They aren’t the first person to attempt such an ambitious day trip.
