Easton Mexican restaurant and bar: El mariachi is on Washington … – Enterprise News

Family owned restaurants grills up savory dishes in the Easton area.

EASTON — In Mexican culture, food is a way of life, and four brothers from Unión de Tula, Mexico, brought their family recipes from thousands of miles away to Easton.

El Mariachi, a brightly decorated restaurant with traditional Mexican music, sombreros on every corner, and pottery vases filled with red flowers, gives customers a taste of Mexico.

The family business opened in 2010 and has expanded and now has five locations, including Taunton, Easton, East Providence, Yarmouth and Wareham — with Easton being the first location that started it all.

Roberto Arechiga, one of the co-owners, learned to cook from his parents in Mexico. Their family ran a small business that sells finger foods, appetizers and birria tacos to locals in the area.

In Unión de Tula, there weren’t many restaurants nearby, so the family resorted to making their dishes at home.

The restaurant located at 620 Washington St. Easton serves up classic dishes of burritos, fajitas, carne asada and plenty of chicken dishes grilled to perfection.

“We are known by locals for our amazing drinks made from fresh lime and fruits, friendly customer service, and how late the bar closes daily,” Arechiga said.

There are dozens of flavors of margaritas to try, along with other house-made cocktails. Some fan favorites are the mint mojitos, tropical toucan and tequila sunrise.

The bar closes daily at 1 a.m., and the customers enjoy that as many places in the area are closed, Arechiga said.

A popular snack on the menu the owner suggests trying is the pressed guacamole made right in front of you.

A busser or waitress will come with a cart and smash together limes, avocados, onions and other vegetables to create the freshest guacamole you’ve ever tasted, Arechiga said.

The restaurant can also cater your events, from corporate to baby showers and birthday parties.

To inquire about catering, call (508) 230-5900 or visit elmariachimr.com. Hours of operation are Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the kitchen, and Friday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The bar closes every day at 1 a.m.
