The new 3CDC development at 4th & Race downtown is now home to an internationally popular Korean fried chicken restaurant. bb.q Chicken opened at 150 W. Fourth St. on Monday, April 10.

bb.q, which stands for “best of the best quality,” was founded in Seoul, South Korea, in 1995. It serves Korean-style fried chicken in a variety of flavors, like honey garlic, golden original and Gangnam style, with black pepper sauce. The menu also offers a selection of ddeokbokki, a Korean street food made of rice and fish cakes, as well as sides like french fries, pickled radish and fried dumplings.

The new restaurant features oversized booths, multiple TVs and the chain’s classic red and gray color scheme. The restaurant has the feeling of an upscale sports bar and offers an authentic Korean fried chicken experience, says a press release. Customers are welcome for lunch, dinner and drinks.

“Imagine yourself to be in Hongdae or Gangnam on a busy night, enjoying Chimaek,” Henry Ly, the Cincinnati location’s franchise owner, said in the release, referencing the Korean term for fried chicken and beer. “We’re thrilled to bring Korea’s finest fried chicken to Cincinnati, and we hope to add to the growing dining scene in the city’s urban core.”

This is Ly’s first bb.q franchise and it’s also the second bb.q location in Ohio.

“We’re excited to be activating another space in the southwest corner of the Central Business district with a great dining option,” said Lindzie Gunnels, commercial leasing manager with 3CDC, in the release. “We expect bb.q to be a great spot for a variety of audiences – folks in town for a convention, downtown workers in search of a great lunch option, and residents in the urban core looking for a meal throughout the day.”

bb.q is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. While the location is open, Ly is planning a grand opening event at the end of April.
