Bomb scare at Royal Courts of Justice

The Royal Courts of Justice building was evacuated and the road outside taped off after a suspected explosive device was found this morning.

Police were called and the bomb disposal unit dealt with the device, pieces of which could still be seen outside the court building’s main entrance after the police tape incident had been lifted.

People waited outside the court for a short time this morning before the road was reopened by police. Court users were not immediately allowed in through the main entrance which was guarded by security.

The Metropolitan Police said: ‘The incident has now been stood down. There was a suspicious package found, which was then confirmed to be non-suspicious.’
