Menahga Ruby’s Pantry is held the third Saturday of each month at the Menahga High School. Food bundles will be distributed from 8 to 10 a.m. Donation is $25 per share.
The Watermark Art Center in Bemidji is having an Art-to-Go printmaking kit giveaway from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for kids ages 14 and younger. Kits will contain everything a young artist needs to create a gallery of colorful monoprints, including paper, ink, a brayer, a texture plate and other textural doodads. Kits will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis.
The play “The Love of Three Oranges” will be performed at 7 p.m. at the Nevis School.
Native American artist Kent Estey’s exhibit “Endanakiiyaan – Where I am on the Earth” opens at the Watermark Art Center in Bemidji. On view will be landscapes and nature scenes done in bright and bold colors, with a reception to be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 9. Watermark galleries are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The Park Rapids Area Community Band’s fall concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the auditorium at Park Rapids Area High School.
High school bands will have a concert at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Park Rapids Area High School.
Community Table will serve a free community meal from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Park Rapids.
Ruby’s Pantry-Laporte has a pop-up pantry from 4:30 to 6 p.m. or until bundles run out at the Laporte School bus garage, across from 315 Main St. W. Requested donation is $25 and only exact change is accepted. There is no restriction on how many bundles you can pick up. The Community Thank Meal will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church. Meals will be available for pickup at the church or for home delivery within 15 miles of Park Rapids. To reserve a meal, call the “turkey hotline” at 218-237-TRKY (8759) by noon on Nov. 22.
Enjoy hot cocoa, hot cider and other treats at the Yuletide Sampler from 5 to 6 p.m. in downtown Park Rapids. Participating businesses host this annual event to thank the community for their support all year, offering yummy holiday treats, a live nativity scene and free will offerings donated to CHI St. Joseph’s Hospice Care.
The Heartland Lakes Community tree lighting happens at 6 p.m. on Main Avenue in Park Rapids, hosted by the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy a carol sing, hot cocoa, cookies, warm fire pits, roasted marshmallows and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The Northern Light Opera Company presents “A Very Good Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m., immediately following the Christmas tree lighting, at the Armory Arts & Events Center. This two-person telling of the Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” invites audience participation and was previewed last summer. The performance is free to the public.
