The Center for Aquaculture Technologies (CATC), a biotechnology company that offers services to clients looking to develop aquaculture projects, has announced a partnership with Prelude Software that will burnish its clinical research and data management offerings.
CATC is based in San Diego, California, U.S.A., with additional offices in Eastern Canada. Prelude, a life science software company, is based in Braintree, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
“The [seafood and aquaculture] industries will gain real-time access to clinical trial data and results, aiding in more efficient decision-making. The efficiency of conducting in vivo clinical trials will be markedly improved,” CATC Manager of Aquatic Animal Health Fabio Zanuzzo told SeafoodSource. “Prelude’s electronic data capture (EDC) system, specifically designed for regulatory compliance, will also expedite study submissions to regulatory bodies, thereby shortening the time it takes for products to reach the market. Ultimately, this partnership is set to elevate the aquaculture industry’s experience and satisfaction levels … aligning with the standards typically seen in human and mammalian clinical research.”
Through this collaboration, Prelude will integrate its software solutions into CATC’s service offerings to improve data collection, reporting, and quality assurance processes, as well as reduce instances of transcription errors.

Prelude has partnered with several major animal health companies in the U.S. and Europe over the past 20 years through the use of its animal health-focused EDC system that the company designed to optimize and streamline clinical research processes. Since its founding in 2003, the company has continually updated its EDC system to withstand evolving industrial scrutiny regarding data, accuracy, and speed standards.
