Christmas has arrived in Cabazon.
Mr. Rex and Dinny, the two famous roadside dinosaur statues towering next to the 10 Freeway in Riverside County, are donning red Santa Claus suits for the holidays.
The Cabazon Dinosaurs, located in the unincorporated community, include a 65-foot-tall Tyrannosaurus rex and a 150-foot-long brontosaurus statue. They’re regularly painted for holidays or occasions.
In the past, they’ve been transformed into pumpkins, superheroes and once “dressed up” for Valentine’s Day. In August, they were painted in a tribute to the late Paul Reubens, whose Pee-wee Herman character filmed part of his 1985 movie “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” at the site.
