United are keen to sell the Brazil international midfielder, who has struggled for both form and fitness this season.
Erik ten Hag wants to strengthen his squad in the current January window but United need player sales in order to bolster their transfer budget.
Casemiro is thought to be tempted by a lucrative offer to move to Saudi Arabia while Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked to the 31-year-old.
But according to The Sun, Ratcliffe, who is taking over football operations at Old Trafford, has suffered a blow over his plans to sell Casemiro.
The British billionaire has been made aware of Casemiro’s £350,000-a-week salary, while the player also has two-and-a-half years left on his contract.
There are not many clubs, if any, who would be willing to pay that much given that he will soon turn 32 and has struggled with injuries this term.
Casemiro returned to full training this week ahead of United’s FA Cup third-round clash against Wigan Athletic.
Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher recently labelled Ten Hag’s decision to sign Casemiro in 2022 as ‘terrible’.
Casemiro has made 63 appearances for the Red Devils since leaving Real Madrid, registering 11 goals and seven assists.
