Chelsea fans baffled as £10million striker makes Premier League transfer swap – despite Pochettino wanting new forward

CHELSEA star David Datro Fofana has completed a loan move to Burnley.

The striker spent the first half of the season with Union Berlin but was recalled earlier this month.

Fofana, 21, was in the stands at Turf Moor to see his new side draw 1-1 with Luton last night.

And he has now been unveiled as a Burnley player with the club hoping he will help them avoid relegation.

Fofana said: “It feels very good to be here, I’m really happy. I think it will be a really good place for me to progress and it’s the perfect move for me.”

But Chelsea supporters have been left baffled by the move amid manager Mauricio Pochettino stressing he needs more attacking options.

The Blues will be without Nicolas Jackson for some time due to him representing Senegal at Afcon and Christopher Nkunku has suffered an injury setback.

The Frenchman missed the first three months of the season with a knee injury and now a hip issue is keeping him in the treatment room.

One Chelsea fan said: “I thought he’ll stay and help the team.”

Another added: “This guy is easily better than Armando Broja. I thought this club would keep him.”

On Nkunku, Pochettino revealed: “We’re disappointed and a little bit worried because we want Nkunku involved again as soon as possible.

“We are still assessing him, we don’t know what is going to happen.

“It’s complicated with him. It’s now between eight and ten days since he could train.

“He was so close to feeling comfortable again, he started the game against Crystal Palace.”
