Hubbard County Incidents: Jan. 8-14, 2024 – Park Rapids Enterprise


Accidents: Jan. 9: A Nevis Twp. caller reported a Ford F-150 with three male occupants, possibly drinking alcohol, went into a ditch and took out a fiber cable box, then left toward County 13;

Jan. 10: A caller reported a semi truck being pulled out of the ditch;

Jan. 12: A County 28 caller reported a vehicle went off the roadway and took out some mailboxes; A Nevis caller reported a car or SUV went through her yard, took out a street sign and continued toward the school;

Jan. 13: Law enforcement located a vehicle that left the travel portion of the roadway and damaged property at a County 4 address;

Jan. 14: A vehicle off the road was reported.

Animal Related: Jan. 10: Law enforcement responded to a car vs. deer collision;

Jan. 11: A caller reported a golden Lab in the middle of U.S. Hwy. 71;

Jan. 13: A U.S. Hwy. 71 caller reported a deer in the roadway, needing to be dispatched;

Jan. 14: A Farden Twp. caller reported a stray dog with porcupine quills in its back paw.

Assaults/Harassment: Jan. 10: The Sebeka Police Chief wanted to speak to a deputy about a violation of an order for protection that continues to occur;

Jan. 13: A County 9 caller wanted a female to move out of their residence, saying they asked her to leave and she refused;

Jan. 14: A Farden Twp. caller reported her brother was being extremely aggressive and punched a hole in the door next to her; A Laporte caller reported she was assaulted.

Burglaries/Theft: Jan. 8: A hallway motion alarm was activated in Lake Emma Twp. and no keyholders could be reached; A living room door alarm was tripped on County 6;

Jan. 9: A U.S. Hwy. 71 caller reported possible phone scam requesting a $150 payment for Dish Network;

Jan. 10: A Nevis Twp. caller reported a possible scam involving suspicious letters; A Lakeport Twp. caller suspected his phone and computers had been hacked;

Jan. 11: A residential burglar alarm on 269th Ave. was tripped by a basement motion detector;

Jan. 12: A commercial burglar alarm was activated in Nevis; A residential burglar alarm in Lake Emma Twp. was activated by a front door sensor;

Jan. 13: An open window or door alarm was activated on 190th St. and caller wanted it checked; A basement motion alarm was activated on County 109;

Jan. 14: A commercial burglar alarm was activated in Akeley; A Crow Wing Lake Twp. caller reported a fish house went missing from Palmer Lake overnight; Farden Twp. callers reported a neighbor’s mobile home alarm was going off.

Fires: Jan. 8: A caller reported a large column of thick black smoke;

Jan. 10: A residential fire alarm was activated in Mantrap Twp.;

Jan. 12: A Clover Twp. caller reported a possible propane leak; Personnel responded to a semi giving off a large amount of smoke; A residential fire alarm in Hart Lake Twp. was tripped by a den smoke alarm.

Medical: Jan. 8: An lift assist alarm was activated in Henrietta Twp.; A medical alarm was activated in Helga Twp. for a male having abdominal pain and high blood pressure; An ambulance was requested in Lakeport Twp. for a male having trouble breathing and retaining fluid;

Jan. 9: An ambulance was requested in Lake Alice Twp. for a male who fell an unknown amount of time ago and was confused and unable to walk;

Jan. 10: An ambulance was requested in Park Rapids for an inmate with possible heart issues; An ambulance was requested in Clay Twp. for a female who fell and was on the ground with leg pain;

Jan. 11: An ambulance was requested in Nevis Twp. for a male who was breathing but not responding; An ambulance was requested in Akeley Twp. for a female having trouble breathing; An ambulance was requested in Lake Emma Twp. for a female having back and knee pain, unable to walk;

Jan. 12: An ambulance was requested in Hart Lake Twp. for a male having leg cramps, unable to move and concerned about a possible heart attack; An ambulance was requested in Clay Twp. for a male who fell in the shower; An ambulance was requested in Nevis Twp. when a male became dizzy and fell; A medical alarm was tripped in Nevis Twp. to request a lift assist; An ambulance was requested in Helga Twp. for a male who was dizzy and pale; An ambulance was requested in Henrietta Twp. for someone whose pulse was high and oxygen low;

Jan. 14: An ambulance was requested in Mantrap Twp. for a male who had been weak and short of breath all day; An ambulance was requested in Nevis Twp. for a male complaining of dizziness and chest pain; An ambulance was requested in Lake George Twp. for a mental health crisis.

Miscellaneous: Jan. 8: Law enforcement patrolled a basketball game in Laporte;

Jan. 9: Law enforcement met with Cub Scouts in Nevis;

Jan. 10: A County 1 caller reported one of her packages was dropped off at a neighbor’s place and the neighbor wasn’t returning it;

Jan. 11: A County 4 caller said they were checking on a running vehicle at the end of the roadway;

Jan. 12: A U.S. Hwy. 71 caller reported a male trespassing on their property.

Traffic: Jan. 8: A Farden Twp. caller requested a ride to Cass Lake while trying to get to her son in Bemidji; Law enforcement stopped a van with an obstructed plate; Law enforcement stopped a Chevy Impala with an obstructed plate;

Jan. 9: Law enforcement stopped a Chevy Avalanche with an obstructed plate;

Jan. 10: A caller requested officer assistance serving papers on someone in Farden Twp.; Officer assistance was requested for a male walking on the highway;

Jan. 11: Officer assistance was requested for a disabled vehicle that was partially in the roadway;

Jan. 12: A caller had questions about trail usage; Law enforcement stopped a vehicle with an obstructed plate; Law enforcement stopped a truck pulling a trailer; Law enforcement stopped a vehicle with an obstructed plate;

Jan. 14: Law enforcement assisted someone who was walking on the road; Law enforcement stopped a truck pulling a trailer; A motorist requested officer assistance for a diesel truck that was gelling up, saying his tow was an hour out and caller had kids with him in the vehicle and it was quickly getting cold; Law enforcement stopped a vehicle with an obstructed plate.
