A WOMAN has given up paying rent to live on the road by turning her ban into a home.
Zia, from Canada, ditched a normal life in the city to spend her golden years on the road with her 1994 Class B van.

The 72-year-old decided to splash on a 1994 Dodge Ram Royal Coach last year to avoid paying rent.
She took to a YouTube video from content creator CheapRViliving to share her experience on the road.
She said: “I don’t have a home. I was renting and the rent was reasonable.
“But by paying rent I couldn’t afford to do anything else. I couldn’t go anywhere.”
Despite living off grid, the Canadian driver said she is now living her dream life.
She added: “Seeing the full moon two nights ago was amazing.
“Sitting in the house in my living room watching TV I’d be missing that.”
She transformed her Class B van after buying the vehicle two years ago.
She has personalised the interior of her van by fitting multiple cupboards for extra storage.
The DIY motorist said: “I found it at a thrift store and I turned it into a handy bedside table for books and journals.”
And where used to be a U-shaped eating area is now a permanent bed.
A fully functioning kitchen boasts plenty of room – including a handy little pantry with a junk drawer on top.
She explained: “I have a little fridge with a small freezer and and I have a two burner cook top as well.”
The savvy driver also revealed a convenient item for when she is long hours on the road.
She explained: “I also have my hot logic so if I’m on a long drive I just put a frozen meal in here.
“It has a hot and within an hour or two hours you’ve got a hot meal when you get to where you want to go.”
She uses a Jackery 500 as the only power generator that she charges along with a solar panel.
However, she doesn’t have a functioning shower inside her van.
If she wants to shower, she uses community centres and public swimming pools – or even wet wipes.
She also uses compostable camping toilet bags and pine pellets.
Zia said: “I keep a 7litre bottle of water under the kitchen sink and it has got one of those USB pumps.
“So if I want hot water I boil it and I clean the dishes usually with vinegar and water spray bottle.”
However, she revealed a downside to her dreamy nomadic life.
Although Zia saves hundreds on rent, she still has to pay travel insurance.
She said: “I had to pay almost $850 for six weeks of travel insurance.”
It comes as a young woman revealed that she lives right next to the sea and doesn’t pay a penny in rent.
Abbe Minor, who described herself as a ‘chaotic blonde who builds vans’, is currently living in San Diego in a van.
