POST Office bosses have been branded a “complete shambles” amid fresh revelations at a Commons Horizon hearing.
Ousted chairman Henry Staunton shocked MPs by disclosing that current CEO Nick Read is under investigation for bad behaviour.
Mr Staunton was sacked last month by Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch — who revealed he was being investigated over allegations of bullying.
He denies them and claimed they formed one paragraph in an 80-page document mostly focused on investigating Mr Read.
He also said Mr Read was “unhappy” with his £436,000 remuneration package, wanted more and wished to quit.
Asked by the Business and Trade Committee earlier if he had ever tried to resign, Mr Read answered: “No”.
Tory MP Jonathan Gullis said: “For postmasters across the country this is looking like a complete shambles.”
A source close to Mrs Badenoch said Mr Staunton had been “nothing but a distraction against our work to get justice and compensation to the postmasters”.
Hundreds were convicted between 1999 and 2015 after faulty Horizon IT software made it appear as though money was missing.
