Report: Jealous of Joe Biden's New York event, Donald Trump plans bigger fundraiser at Madison Square Garden



If media reports are to be believed, Donald Trump is jealous of Joe Biden after a fundraiser attended by former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama garnered $26 million for the possible Democrat candidate. Quoting an unnamed source, ‘Page Six’ has reported that the possible Republican candidate plans to hold a massive fundraising event at Madison Square Garden or Yankee Stadium. He also plans to somehow outdo Joe Biden and will allow tickets as low as $100 and as high as $1 million. Trump’s team has already contacted Madison Square Garden about a potential event, but no booking has been made.

Trump team: glitzy fundraiser

Biden reportedly raised $155 million at the end of last month, compared to Trump’s $42 million. Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung called the Joe Biden fundraising event “a glitzy fundraiser in the city with their elitist, out-of-touch celebrity benefactors.” The event held in New York was attended by several Hollywood, Broadway and TV stars, including Mindy Kaling, Cynthia Erivo and Stephen Colbert.
Talking to ‘New York Post’, a Trump representative said, “The RNC and campaign do not expect to have as much money as Biden and the Democrats, who not only didn’t have a primary to spend on but who are bankrolled by Hollywood and Silicon Valley elites, but we will have an ample amount to run an effective and winning campaign.”

John Paulson to host event for Trump

Meanwhile, Billionaire John Paulson will host an event for Trump on Saturday in Palm Beach. The guest list includes billionaires like Robert Mercer and his daughter Rebekah Mercer, Jets owner Woody Johnson, sugar baron Pepe Fanjul, oil and gas billionaire Harold Hamm, casino billionaires Steve Wynn and Phil Ruffin, and Trump’s former Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. It aims to collect $33 million.

Trump collected $626.6 million in 2020

According to ‘The Washington Post’, Trump and his team raised a record $626.6 million in 2020 from small-dollar donors, 35% more than Joe Biden.Trump raised $51 million from small donors last year, much less than the $119 million he collected in 2019 and only 18 percent more than Biden’s total.
