SOUTH African artist DJ Maphorisa failed to impress fans as he flaunted his vintage car collection on social media.
The record producer, 36, appeared to flex his financial muscle as he filmed himself walking up and down a colourful row of motors at a private location.
DJ Maphorisa, real name Thema Sekowe, appeared to boast BMWs and VWs as part of the collection, with all nine vehicles in view believed to be his.
All the cars appeared to be in good condition, with many looking like they’d just received a fresh lick of paint.
The video, which was shared to X, had been slowed down as DJ Maphorisa panned around from car to car.
With all of them appearing to be BMW’s and VW’s, you’d be forgiven for thinking the performer had a specific taste for German brands.
Known as ‘gusheshe’ in some South African townships, the pimped out rides appeared impressive nonetheless, even if some of them were duplicates in different colours.
But despite the array of vintage cars on show, however, the award-winning Amapiano artist failed to impress a number of fans.
The video attracted a lot of negative comments from unhappy motorists, with the majority failing to understand why he would spend so much money on ‘old’ cars.
One person said: “I don’t understand people who buy cars that are older than their grandparents.”
Another commented: “DJ Maphorisa’s car collection looks like a second-hand car dealership.”
A third added: “Same car, just different colours.”
One eagle-eyed fan even claimed that DJ Maphorisa probably didn’t own all the cars, due to the specific location they were being held.
“That looks like a public basement parking lot though, more like those cars came for a car show event or something. I don’t think they are all his cars!” they said.
Elsewhere, Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer revealed a “hidden” classic car collection featuring Chevy’s and a motor that can float.
Mike, who has been a TV favourite for petrolheads for more than 20 years, visited a “car cathedral” with his wife where “amazing” classic cars including a pink Chevrolet, a T-Bird and a Bellair lie in wait.
And Bangers & Cash star Derek Mathewson has built up his own incredible collection of classic cars over the years – including a host of gorgeous Aston Martins.
The presenter, who runs the famous Mathewson Auctions – a North Yorkshire-based, family-run historic car auction business – is well-known for his love of vintage motors.
