A woman police constable is warded at the Chaguanas District Health Facility after she was attacked during a robbery in Enterprise.
The officer told police that around 5am on Thursday, she was walking along Nimblette Street in Enterprise when she was confronted by a masked man.
The man was reportedly holding a weapon.
The suspect announced a hold-up and tried to relieve the woman of her bag that contained her cash, jewellery, and identification documents.
The constable, however, resisted.
During the struggle, she was pushed to the ground, and suffered a broken leg.
The suspect took the bag and fled the scene.
The officer called out for help and residents notified the police and emergency health services.
The injured woman was taken for medical treatment.
