A PRISTINE Ford Capri with an incredibly low mileage has gone on sale for an eye-watering sum – despite being nearly 40 years old.
The car is an ultra-limited edition version built as “the last of a famous line”.

Introduced in the mid-’80s, the Capri 280 was the final variant of the iconic model ever to roll out of the factory.
The model is often referred to as the Capri Brooklands after the unique shade of green in which it was painted.
Only 1,038 were ever made, of which this is number 971.
It was first registered in 1987 and sold after just six months to a Mr Chris Powell, who kept it until his death in 2013.

At that point, it was passed on to his best friend who “kept it in a preserved state”, according to the listing on Car & Classic.
And preserve it he did, as the Capri has only covered 6,214 miles in the 37 years since it hit the road.
To put it in perspective, that works out to a stunning average of under 170 miles a year.
The motor is still painted in its original colour and has seemingly managed the last four decades without a scratch.
Photos of the interior suggest it’s in no less of a perfect condition, with the black leather trim completely spotless.
Overall, the car appears to be in showroom-ready form.
Thanks to being “lovingly garaged” for years it has been expertly maintained using premium products and still starts like new.
The listing adds: “The last of a famous line, A Ford Capri 280 Brooklands build 971 with 6, 214 miles.

However, all that perfection comes at a price, with a whopping £69,995 listed.
It comes after another Capri went up for even more after “never having seen the rain” thanks to a 19-year stint in a garage.
