Is Donald Trump losing to Kamala Harris? Here is what these two polling surveys say

Donald Trump and the Republicans are on the backfoot after two leading national surveys indicate a surge in support for Kamala Harris who is also ahead of Trump, according to these surveys. The Trump campaign team has pointed out the results of another survey which indicated that the former president is ahead of his rival in key swing states. The Republicans and Trump were upbeat about their electoral prospects during their national convention in Milwaukee. This has now changed rapidly after US President Joe Biden quit the race and endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris. This decision has sent the Republicans into a tail spin.

Reuters/Ipsos Survey:

The Reuters/Ipsos survey indicated that Kamala Harris has a marginal lead over Donald Trump. There is a two-point lead in favor of Harris. 44% of the respondents favored Harris in comparison to Trump who received 42% of the support from the respondents. This is within the 3% margin of error.

The numbers change when respondents were given the option of choosing Robert Kennedy Jr. The Vice-President increases her lead over Trump in this scenario. Her lead increases to 4%. 42% of the respondents supported Harris, 38% supported Trump and 8% supported Kennedy Jr.

The survey polled 1018 registered voters from July 22 to 23.

What did the other survey say?

A survey which was conducted by the Landmark Communications revealed that Trump had a marginal lead over his opponent. 48% of the registered voters who were surveyed supported Trump and only 46.7% of the respondents supported Harris. When other candidates were included, Trump led with 45.8% of the respondents supporting him in comparison to only 44.3% supporting Harris. Even this means that Trump’s lead is within the five percent margin of error. Trump cannot gain any sense of comfort looking at the findings of these two surveys.

Situation in the swing states:

Trump’s campaign team pointed out another survey conducted by the Public Policy Polling which showed that Trump was leading in the key swing states of Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. The details of the survey are the following: Trump leads 46% to Harris’ 41% in Michigan, 45% to 43% in Pennsylvania, 46% to 40% in Arizona and 48% to 44% in the state of North Carolina. These results were when third party candidates were included.
