Paetongtarn Shinawatra: Meet Thailand's new 37-year-old Prime Minister


Paetongtarn Shinawatra, daughter of the controversial former leader Thaksin Shinawatra, is Thailand’s prime minister. She became PM after receiving a royal endorsement on August 16, 2024. That was two days after Parliament chose her following a court order that removed her predecessor. She replaces a fellow Pheu Thai leader, heading a coalition that includes military parties tied to the coup that ousted the last government.
