HCLL presents ‘Three Old Guys Snowmobile to Alaska’ – Park Rapids Enterprise

Headwaters Center for Lifelong Learning presents Rob Hallstrom’s program “Three Old Guys Snowmobile to Alaska” from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Event Room in Park Rapids.

On March 6, 2023, Rob Hallstrom, 66, of Park Rapids; Paul Dick, 72, of Grand Rapids and Rex Hibbert, 70, of Soda Springs, Idaho dubbed themselves “the three old guys” and departed on the adventure of a lifetime by making a trek from Minnesota to Alaska on snowmobiles.

According to a news release, after 38 days and approximately 5,000 miles, these guys got their adventure. “They also proved to themselves, and their 38,000 Facebook followers, that with a little grit (and a lot of support) even the most challenging of adventures can be achieved.”

“These three old guys took extreme riding to the next level, overcoming broken-up ice and overflow creeks, miles of fresh powder, rock and gravel, long-deserted, overgrown trapping routes and two snowmobile fires, the release states “They spent many days living solely on jerky and protein bars. They also encountered deep, deep kindness and generosity from local communities, some of the most beautiful land in the world, and support from across the globe. This truly was the adventure of a lifetime, and yet many continue to ask if the three old guys will tackle another journey. The answer is ‘maybe.’”Hallstrom will also remind his audience not to forget, “You don’t stop having fun when you get old, you get old when you stop having fun.”

The event is open to the public, free of charge, and handicap accessible.
