Vistara's Delhi-London flight diverted to Frankfurt after bomb threat

NEW DELHI: A Vistara flight en route from Delhi to London was diverted to Frankfurt on Friday after a bomb threat was reported. The airline confirmed in a statement early Saturday that the flight landed safely at Frankfurt airport, where mandatory security checks are being conducted. The flight will proceed to its final destination once security agencies clear it.

“Vistara flight UK17, operating from Delhi to London on October 18, 2024, received a security threat via social media. As per protocol, all relevant authorities were notified, and the pilots opted to divert the flight to Frankfurt as a precautionary measure,” an airline spokesperson said.

Sources have indicated that the flight was diverted following a bomb threat.

Additionally, Akasa Air reported that its flight QP 1366, scheduled to fly from Bengaluru to Mumbai on Friday, received a security alert just before departure.“In line with safety and security protocols, all passengers were deplaned while local authorities carried out necessary procedures. We appreciate passengers’ patience as our team worked to minimize the inconvenience,” Akasa Air stated on X.

Recently, nearly 40 flights operated by Indian carriers have received bomb threats, all of which have been hoaxes. The Civil Aviation Ministry is considering implementing strict measures to deter such incidents, including placing perpetrators on the no-fly list.
