Shares of Bank of Baroda(up 4.71 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 4.3 per cent), State Bank of India(up 3.49 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 2.3 per cent) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 1.8 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 2.1 per cent at 52207.50.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 314.66 points at 24221.9, while the BSE Sensex stood 992.74 points at 80109.85.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 ended in the green, while 9 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, HDFC Bank, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of 3P Land Holdings, Vimta Labs, Gillette India, Next Mediaworks and The Anup Engg hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Magnum Ventures, Astron Paper & Board, JP Associates, CMI Ltd and Kuantum Papers hit their fresh 52-week lows.
