Newcastle and England winger Anthony Gordon has rubbished reports linking him with a move to Liverpool ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

Gordon has massively impressed at Newcastle since arriving from Everton in a deal worth £40m in January 2023.

The 23-year-old England international conjured up 11 goals and 10 assists across 35 Premier League games for Eddie Howe’s side last term and already has six goal involvements in the league this campaign.

Such performances have led many clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool, to be linked with the winger despite him signing a new long-term contract in October this year.

A potential swap deal involving Gordon and Liverpool defender Joe Gomez was rumoured in the summer but the Newcastle star has now poured cold water on the idea of leaving St James’ Park any time soon.

‘I’m only 23,’ Gordon told Sky Sports. ‘All I’ve heard, like, is ‘When he is leaving?’ Who said I was ever going to leave?

‘I’m very, very happy here, I love this place, I love playing football here.’

Gordon sent a message to his potential suitors with a goal against Liverpool in early December and celebrated by making talking gestures with his hands.

And the former Everton winger indicated that the celebration was poking fun at the constant speculation linking him with a move.

‘The celebration was just that I’d heard so much talk this year about my future, where I’m going, where I want to go without anyone actually asking me,’ he added.

‘Just leave me to play football, I just want to be happy, play football.

‘I love it here, I’ve said it plenty of times, I think with the speculation, people assume it is all correct when you’ve never heard from me once that I am unhappy at this place. I love everyone here. I love playing football here.’

On Saturday, Newcastle ended their four-match winless streak with a convincing 4-0 win at home to Leicester City.
