Chelsea and Liverpool are both interested in Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who could become available in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The 23-year-old has been one of Napoli’s standout performers since his arrival in a €10million (£8.6m) deal from Dinamo Batumi in 2022, helping guide the club to their first Serie A title in 33 years in his first season.
Kvaratskhelia, who has 5 goals in 17 league appearances so far this campaign, has held talks over a new contract with the Italian club but an agreement has not been reached.
The Georgian still has a deal until June 2027 but the lack of progress surrounding an extension has ignited interest from some of the top clubs in Europe.
Paris Saint-German are seen as the frontrunners for the winger’s signature having unsuccessfully tried to sign prise him away from Naples last summer.
But according to The Athletic, both Liverpool and Chelsea are also highly interested in Kvaratskhelia who could command a fee of around €80m (£67m).
The report indicates that Liverpool, in particular, would consider a move for the winger in this transfer window should Napoli decide to cash in on their prized asset this month.
Arne Slot’s side are well resourced in wide areas and may have to sanction a big-money sale in order to raise the funds to try and bring Kvaratskhelia to Anfield.
Napoli are also said to be interested in a deal for Federico Chiesa who has barely featured since joining the Merseyside club from Juventus in the summer.
Other reports, meanwhile, have suggested that Napoli have held talks with Manchester United over a potential swap deal involving Marcus Rashford and Kvaratskhelia.
Rashford’s days at Old Trafford appear to be numbered under new coach Ruben Amorim having not played in United’s last six games in all competitions.
It’s understood that the Serie A club are keen for an initial loan deal with an option to buy, while another major issue is United’s insistence that over half of Rashford’s £325,000-a-week salary is covered.
Rashford’s representatives has also held talks with AC Milan, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund this month as they look to secure the 27-year-old an exit from his boyhood club.
