Investing.com – U.S. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the lost 1.66% to hit a new 1-month low, while the index lost 1.55%, and the index lost 1.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Chevron Corp (NYSE:), which rose 1.89% or 2.84 points to trade at 153.14 at the close. Walmart Inc (NYSE:) added 1.31% or 1.20 points to end at 93.00 and Home Depot Inc (NYSE:) was up 0.69% or 2.69 points to 389.89 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Travelers Companies (NYSE:), which lost 4.25% or 10.31 points to trade at 232.46 in late trade. Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:) declined 3.45% or 20.02 points to end at 560.00 and American Express Company (NYSE:) shed 3.15% or 9.55 points to 293.30.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 27.44% to 11.75, Constellation Energy Corp (NASDAQ:) which was up 25.16% to settle at 305.19 and Delta Air Lines Inc (NYSE:) which gained 8.98% to close at 66.94.
The worst performers were Constellation Brands Inc Class A (NYSE:) which was down 17.09% to 181.81 in late trade, PG&E Corp (NYSE:) which lost 10.81% to settle at 17.17 and ON Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was down 7.49% to 53.94 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Wisekey International Holding AG (NASDAQ:) which rose 53.42% to 10.08, VerifyMe Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 51.79% to settle at 2.55 and DatChat Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 50.47% to close at 4.83.
The worst performers were IGM Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 66.29% to 2.09 in late trade, CDT Environmental Technology Investment Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which lost 51.17% to settle at 1.87 and ModivCare Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 47.48% to 6.56 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2241 to 589 and 44 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2527 fell and 784 advanced, while 110 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.92% or 24.84 to $2,715.64 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.60% or 2.66 to hit $76.58 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.54% or 2.72 to trade at $79.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.51% to 1.02, while USD/JPY fell 0.19% to 157.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 109.48.
