A four-bedroom Easton home for just $262,900? What to know about upcoming housing lottery – Enterprise News


EASTON — A single-family home in Easton could be yours for less than $300,000 through the upcoming MCO Housing Services affordable housing lottery.

The Olde Forge Commons subdivision, located at 20 South St., South Easton, is a new 20-unit development. The lottery includes one three-bedroom and one four-bedroom single family home in this subdivision. The homes have 1.5 or 2 bathrooms, and a two-car garage. The 4-bedroom is approximately 1,496 square feet. The 3-bedroom unit floorplan is not yet available. Refrigerator, stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, central air conditioning is included. Washer and dryer hookups are provided.

The maximum sales prices for the affordable homes are: $241,700 for the three bedroom and $262,900 for thefour-bedroom home. The monthly HOA fee is $200 a month, and the 2024 tax rate is $13.35 per thousand.

According to the popular real-estate website Zillow, the average house in Easton costs $665,486 in 2024, more than double the cost of the two available homes.

Applications to enter the lottery can be picked up at the Ames Public Library or at Easton Town Hall and must be completed by October 15. There is a public information meeting via zoom on Monday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

To enter the lottery, eligible candidates must be a first-time homebuyer, with some exceptions, and have an asset limit of $75,000. Gross household income limits are as follows:

  • 1 person: $72,900
  • 2 person: $83,300
  • 3 person: $93,700
  • 4 person: $104,100
  • 5 person: $112,450
  • 6 person: $120,750
  • 7 person: $129,100
  • 8 person: $137,400

The lottery will take place on zoom on October 31 at 3 p.m.
