Back in October of last year, famous analyst and purveyor of Apple-related rumors Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would ship without any physical, clickable, traditional buttons.

Instead, both phones will employ solid state buttons, which will be aided by additional Taptic Engines in order to simulate the feel of physical buttons when you touch them.

Cirrus Logic is the company that stands to benefit a whole lot from Apple’s move, as it’s the exclusive supplier of the Taptic Engine’s controller IC for the solid state buttons. Kuo speculates that if users will respond well to Apple’s faux buttons, other companies might quickly get ‘inspired’ and add their own.
