Arsenal transfer target Sverre Nypan was spotted in London on Sunday night ahead of fresh talks over a January move, according to reports.
The Gunners have ‘presented their project’ to Nypan but face competition from Girona, part owned by the City Football Group, as well as Aston Villa.
It was reported last week that Arsenal were advancing in talks for Nypan and he has now been seen in London with further discussions to follow.
Nypan is thought to be weighing up his options, the Daily Mail have reported, with the 18-year-old Norwegian looking set to leave Rosenborg.
Football transfers expert Fabrizio Romano claims Nypan is ‘taking his time to visit’ each club in order to ‘pick the best option’ to advance his career.
The teenager was in in Erling Haaland’s box at the Etihad to watch Manchester City beat Chelsea 3-1 on Saturday, with the City Football Group hoping to convince Nypan to pick Girona.
Nypan mainly plays as a central midfielder but can also be deployed as an attacking midfielder or centre-forward. Batian Schmitz, a Market Value admin for Norway, told transfermarkt: ‘Nypan is a central/offensive midfielder with an exceptionally high football IQ for his age.
‘He is two-footed, creative and has a good passing game – many of them are smart passes. He handles the ball well and also has a very good work rate.’
Nypan has spent his entire career at Norwegian club Rosenborg to date and has been capped four times by Norway U21s.
It is thought Nypan could be available for just a £10m fee, with a January move more feasible as the window falls during the Norwegian off-season.
Arsenal are hopeful Nypan’s relationship with fellow Norwegian Martin Odegaard may help him pick the Emirates instead of Girona or Aston Villa.
It has been reported that a possible deal would likely see Nypan come straight into Mikel Arteta’s immediate first-team despite his inexperience.
Nypan has played 60 games for Rosenborg so far, producing 13 goals and 11 assists for his boyhood club.
Should Arsenal get a January deal done for Nypan, he could become the Gunners’ first signing under their interim sporting director Jason Ayto.
