During his three-day trip, the king interacted with Indian business leaders and explored new avenues for expanding economic and commercial ties, a joint statement issued at the end of the visit said. India assured to consider Bhutan’s request for financial assistance and marketing of its upcoming hydropower projects. The India-Bhutan energy partnership has also been extended to non-hydro renewables, such as solar and wind energy and green initiatives for e-mobility. India assured technical and financial assistance for such projects, the joint statement said.
On hydropower cooperation between Bhutan, Bangladesh and India, both sides during the king’s visit expressed commitment towards greater sub-regional cooperation, including in energy sector, which would lead to increased inter-linkages between economies for benefit of all stakeholders. They also agreed to deepen partnership in space technology by finalizing a joint plan of action expeditiously.
