BROCKTON − Jose Duarte, retired principal of South Middle School, was named acting principal of Brockton High School. At Tuesday’s school committee meeting, Acting Superintendent James Cobbs said Duarte will temporarily take over as principal for at least two months until a permanent principal is hired in January.

An 18-year-old Bridgewater man has been identified as the motorcyclist killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Bedford Street.

The East Bridgewater Police Department has identified the hit-and-run driver who struck and dragged an 11-year-old girl in the parking lot of a town elementary school, Chief Michael Jenkins announced.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 17-year-old who is wanted for the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old man in Brockton earlier this year.

An 18-year-old Bridgewater man has been identified as the motorcyclist killed in last Thursday’s multi-vehicle crash on Bedford Street, the Bridgewater Police Department said. On Thursday, Oct. 12, at about 4:15 p.m., Bridgewater officials responded to the area of 1001 Bedford St. to find Percy Lewis III, 18, of Bridgewater, who was operating a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle, lying in the road with severe injuries. Lewis was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.

Police identify hit-and-run driver who struck 11-year-old girl in East Bridgewater

The East Bridgewater Police Department has identified the hit-and-run driver who struck and dragged an 11-year-old girl in the parking lot of a town elementary school, Chief Michael Jenkins announced in a written statement. The female driver, who is 62 years old and from Florida, will be summoned to Brockton District Court for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, police said.

Brockton’s Luminosity Behavioral Health agrees to $700,000 settlement on fraud allegations

A Brockton-based mental health provider has agreed to pay $700,000 in a settlement to resolve allegations that it submitted false claims to MassHealth following an investigation by the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. The AG’s office said the investigation began with a referral from MassHealth and its managed care entities.
