BROCKTON — The beloved breakfast spot known for its hash bombs and crème brûlée French toast has officially closed permanently.
It’s a “sad day” according to Facebook users from Brockton as the sign for a new restaurant takes the place of JJ’s Caffe located at 610 N. Main St. in Brockton.
The restaurant is especially famous in the Cape Verdean community as a beacon of culinary hope.

JJ’s Caffe reinvented itself in 2022
The business that was once a sit-down brunch spot turned into a fast paced grab-and-go lunch spot in 2022.
After the owner of JJ’s Caffe Justino “JJ” Fernandes retired, his sons Nicholas and Nelson Fernandes took over and revamped the restaurant with a new business model similar to Chipotle, serving fresh ready-to-eat dishes.
The dishes included salads, vegetarian options and rice bowls smothered with veggies and various meats.

One of the popular items on the menu was the “hash bombs” that were featured on “Phantom Gourmet,” a popular dining food show.
A few variations on the hash bombs included the classic deep-fried corned beef hash stuffed with cheddar and fogo fire hot sauce, home fries and sausage gravy.
Why has JJ’s Caffe closed for good?
The Enterprise did request a comment from the owners but there was no response.
JJ’ Caffe has not updated their Facebook page on their closing or what their plans are for the future.
What’s next for the location?
Now that the business has closed, the city can look forward to Sabores Latinos Restaurant opening soon as we say our farewells to a one-of-a-kind brunch spot in Brockton.
