Brussels: Belgium-Sweden match abandoned after two Swedes shot dead – video report

Forensic police surveyed the scene of a shooting where two Swedes were shot dead in the centre of the city by a gunman who federal prosecutors said claimed to be inspired by Islamic State. The Euro 2024 qualifier match between Sweden and Belgium at King Badouin Stadium, about 5km away from the shooting, was abandoned at half-time and the crowd was instructed to stay inside the stadium. A spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office said the suspect remained at large and told residents to stay indoors. “Go home and stay at home until the threat has been eradicated,” they said. Belgium has raised its terror alert to the highest level in the capital.
