CA defrauds woman of Rs 17L in crypto trading scam – Times of India


NAVI MUMBAI: A 35-year-old chartered accountant has been arrested from Pune by Navi Mumbai cyber police team on November 4 for allegedly defrauding a woman from Kamothe of Rs 17 lakh in crypto currency online trading scam.

The arrested accused has been identified as Akash Pandey, who was booked for cheating under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act, informed the police. Thirty similar cases of cyber crimes were registered against the accuesd including 4 cases in Maharashtra and rest in states like West Bengal, Delhi and Haryana. Pandey had joined a Facebook group where he got acquainted with some group members who were cyber fraudsters and he joined their modus operandi, said a police official. Soon after Pandey’s arrest, his aides in Delhi have switched off their mobiles, the police official added.

Uorfi Javed gets booked by Mumbai Police under a defamation case for misusing the police uniform for her fake arrest

Social media influencer Uorfi Javed has been booked by Mumbai police for spreading false information about their arrest. A video went viral showing Uorfi being arrested by fake police officers. The police have confirmed that the video is misleading and have registered a criminal case against those involved. The fake inspector has been arrested and the vehicle used in the video has been seized. Uorfi Javed was not detained by the Mumbai Police.
