Sharing the picture of the fungus-infected dessert, Preeti Biswas, on May 25, stated, “No food joint in #Hyderabad can be trusted anymore. This is a popular bakery (5th Avenue Bakers) in #Sainikpuri that has been serving consumers for 30+ years. When I opened the Eclair, I found fungus in it. @cfs_telangana Let me know where I can file a complaint for this.”
Later, she reposted it with the caption, “Apart from strong support and engagement, this post hasn’t led to any action from @cfs_telangana @AFCGHMC. This highlights the urgent need for a platform where consumers can directly flag food safety issues with inspectors. Where else do we turn?”
Netizens were shocked and demanded the authorities to take action. Moreover, they suggested how Biwas could contact the authorities.
“Preeti, please get the food samples tested in the State Food Laboratory in Nacharam. Once you have the report ready.. please file a case against them in the District Consumer Forum and sue them. Don’t forget to keep the bill copy. Enough of these eateries taking public health for granted,” said one.
Another wrote, “Reachout to GHMC Kapra ,ECIL & raise a complaint.”
Sharing an update, Biswas stated, “Kudos to @cfs_telangana & @AFCGHMC for the prompt response. This is the standard we expect from all food outlets to ensure safe, hygienic food and protect consumer health. Let’s make #Hyderabad an example for other cities to follow.”
