Chelsea and Manchester United are set to miss out on signing Victor Osimhen as the striker has agreed a move to Al-Hilal, according to reports in Saudi Arabia.

After failing to join Chelsea in the closing stages of the transfer window last summer, Osimhen ended up moving to Galatasaray on loan from Napoli and has enjoyed a successful season in Turkey.

The Nigeria international has scored 36 goals in 40 appearances and has helped Galatasaray win the Turkish league and cup double.

John Obi Mikel, who attempted to broker Osimhen’s move to Chelsea last year, is adamant that the striker remains keen on a move to Stamford Bridge ahead of the summer transfer window.

‘For me, it’s going be really sad if we don’t get a player who supported the club a kid growing up and wants to play for us, wants to play this football club,’ the former Chelsea midfielder said last month.

However, Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh reports that Osimhen has now agreed a three-year contract to join Al-Hilal.

The report claims that the Saudi Pro League side want to have Osimhen in their squad for the upcoming Club World Cup, which starts next month, and are ready to pay the €75 million (£62.9m) release clause in his deal with Napoli.

Last year, Osimhen turned down a move to rival Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, who went on to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford for £40m.

Al-Hilal are guaranteed to finish second in the Saudi Pro League this season and will play Real Madrid, RB Salzburg and Pachuca in Group H at the Club World Cup.

The Saudi side have also held talks to sign Bruno Fernandes and have offered Manchester United’s captain a three-year contract worth £700,000-a-week and up to £65m per season, once signing-on fees and bonuses are included.

Al-Hilal want an answer from Fernandes by the end of the month as they also want to sign him in time for the start of their Club World Cup campaign, which begins against Real Madrid on June 18.
