CONOR Hourihane took the brunt of fuming Derby fans’ anger following defeat to Shrewsbury.
The Rams lost 1-0 on Saturday, with the Irish midfielder scoring an own goal.
The narrow loss saw the away side fall to the 11th place in League One.
It’s been a tumultuous period in the club’s history, with financial woes hindering their progress on the pitch.
And yesterday’s performance did nothing to appease matters,
But, extraordinarily, Hourihane confronted the travelling supporters at the final whistle.
In a video clip uploaded online, angry fans can be seen remonstrating with the 32-year-old.
Understanding their frustrations, he can be overheard saying: “We’re trying our best. What do you want me to do?”
Hourihane then leaves the away end following the exchange looking frustrated.
And on X, he appears to have the support of his fans.
One wrote: “Ridiculous taking it out on individual players. Fair play to Hourihane for having the balls to face up to them.”

A third shared: “He is an under-rated player when he played for us he gave 100 per cent every single time when some didn’t. At least he fronted it up to the fans he looks the only one that did.”
A four added: “Fair play to him.. Difficult to go to fans in a state so some cudos just support your club it’s not easy but your better than this.”
