City firm Dentons has been granted menopause accreditation as part of wider efforts to attract and retain senior female talent.
The firm is one of six law firms in the UK to receive the ‘menopause friendly accreditation’ from Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace, an organisation dedicated to making every employer menopause friendly.
Dentons had to demonstrate evidence of the effectiveness of its work to be a menopause-friendly employer in five areas: culture; policies and practices; training; engagement; and working environment.
The firm’s measures to create a supportive environment for staff going through the menopause include a menopause policy highlighting the firm’s responsibility and investment, flexible working arrangements and training, and informal drop-in sessions to create a ‘safe space’ for staff to discuss their experiences.
Karen Peart, legal delivery centre operations manager, said: ‘Going through menopause can be a challenging experience and this recognition validates our long-running commitment to offering a safe and inclusive space for all our employees to thrive. The depth and breadth of the offering is something I am particularly proud of, having found myself feeling ill-equipped and isolated at times, especially at the beginning of my menopause journey.’
