Anyone with an iPhone in their pocket would be wise to install the very latest iOS update from Apple. The US technology company has just released an urgent software patch and it’s important users do not ignore it. iOS 17.0.3 has been pushed out to fix two security flaws along with eradicating a bug that was causing some iPhones to overheat.
The warmth issue had been plaguing some owners of the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro with Apple quickly confirming that they had spotted a glitch that could make things a little too toasty.
“We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity,” an Apple spokesperson told Forbes.
“We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update.”
That’s now been mended in this latest release.
Along with overheating, the security bugs are also pretty serious with one being given the dreaded zero-day rating.
For those not up to speed on the latest tech lingo, zero-day means that hackers are already aware of the glitch and could be exploiting it – that’s why it’s so important to install things as soon as possible.
“Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited against versions of iOS before iOS 16.6,” the firm said on its security pages.
If you have an iPhone already running iOS 17 then we’d recommend installing this release as soon as you can. The file size is almost 500MB in size so it might be best to download things when at home or in the office and connected to your Wi-Fi.
