MANILA, (PIA) — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), along with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and UN Women Philippines, announced a forum titled “Mind the GAP (Gender and Poverty).”
The forum, scheduled for March 22, 2024, will focus on science, technology, and innovation (STI) initiatives that promote the economic empowerment of women. It will be held in a hybrid format, offering both in-person and online participation via Zoom.
“Mind the GAP” serves as a side event for the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which tackles gender equality, women’s empowerment, and poverty reduction strategies focused on women.
The forum aims to:
- Recognize the link between poverty and human rights violations, particularly for women.
- Discuss strategies to protect the rights of women living in poverty and promote gender equality and empowerment.
- Examine current and future challenges and opportunities to advance gender equality.
- Showcase efforts and best practices that enhance women’s participation in the economy.
