NEW season teasers of the Department of Science and Technology TV (DoSTv) programs “Expertalk” and “Siyensikat” were presented among youth participants of the National Science, Technology, and Innovations Festival (NYSTIF) on Sept. 18, 2024, at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.
These educational-oriented programs produced by DoSTv aim to showcase the practical applications of science, technology and innovations in daily life, while also sharing inspiring stories of next-generation Filipino scientists who are pushing boundaries to promote science-based solutions and opportunities.
“Through these programs, we also emphasize how visual communication helps translating complex ideas into content that can be easily understood and more engaging for everyone,” added DoST Assistant Secretary for Technology Transfer, Communications and Commercialization and Officer in Charge, Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) Napoleon Juanillo Jr., PhD.

“I congratulate the DoSTv team, creative partners, and DoST-STII for producing ‘SiyenSikat’ and ‘ExperTalk’ stories and for your collective commitment to making science and technology accessible to the people,” DoST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. said.
Participants witnessed teasers for the “SiyenSikat” season five episode on Climate Science Youth Camp in Camiguin Island and an outdoor interview filled with actions with lepidopterist Liezel Mae Abijay on “ExperTalk.”
“What I really appreciate about doing ‘ExperTalk’ is introducing career paths that are rarely sought after but vital for enriching resources and in nation-building,” shared program host AJ Castro.
On the other hand, “SiyenSikat” host Jiego Reyes noted that the new season entails stories of how the lives of people have been transformed through science and technology.
“Our goal is to give life on what you [students] are learning in schools,” he added.
“ExperTalk” airs every Saturday at 4 p.m. and “SiyenSikat” every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on PTV4 and on DoSTv’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
