Empovia adds activities, continues highlight on non-traditional transportation

Chuck Samples/KVOE News.

Emporians had a chance to enjoy Empovia on Saturday. And they did so at Peter Pan Park.

A new addition to this year’s event will be an open air market known as a Tianguis. Rebecca Herrera says the market helped to augment the feel of Mexico, Central America or South America.

Another part of the event was an appearance of the Re/Max Ek Real Estate hot air balloon. Realtor Tasha Sailer says the balloon fits exactly into what Empovia is all about.

Visit Emporia Director and Emporia Spanish Speakers founder LeLan Dains was pleased to see the attendance and the increased number of related activities.

Empovia is the local take on a Ciclovia, a traditional event held in many Spanish countries, which highlights “human powered movement” such as biking, running and walking.
