Enterprise fire leaves 37 without homes – WTVY

ENTERPRISE Ala. (WTVY) -An Enterprise fire displaced 37 people Saturday after damaging all eight units in the residential complex.

“When firefighters Crews were dispatched to the Castle Ridge Apartments off Dixie Drive around 6:40 a.m. arrived, they saw flames coming from one side of the two-story building and heavy smoke,” Enterprise Fire Chief Christopher Davis said.

Davis credits the actions of the firefighters for quickly putting out the fire, which he believes is an accident and that did not cause injury.

The Red Cross assisted in finding shelter for those who lost their homes and is asking for public assistance.

“We can always use donations to help support these families to include bottles of water, Gatorade or Powerade, and hydration packets, as well as prepacked, unopened snacks,” Tammie Creech, Community Disaster Programs Manager for the South Alabama chapter of the American Red Cross said. “Monetary donations will also be accepted through the American Red Cross website.”

Donations will be accepted at First Baptist Church on Lee Street Saturday afternoon.
