ETtech Deals Digest: Startup funding rises 84% on-year to $534 million this week


Startups raised around $533.6 million between October 12 and October 18, marking an 84% increase compared to the same period last year. This also represents a more than five-fold increase from last week’s total of $103.2 million.

This week, startups, across seed, early and late-stage rounds, raised funds through 28 deals, compared to 33 deals in the year-ago period, when they raised a total of $290 million, according to data from Tracxn.

Top deals of the week

Purplle: Omnichannel beauty products retailer Purplle extended its latest funding round by Rs 500 crore to close at Rs 1,500 crore (around $180 million). The overall round was led by the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) with additional participation from existing investors such as Premji Invest and Blume Ventures.

Eruditus: Executive education startup Eruditus raised $150 million at a flat valuation of $3.2 billion post-money, led by TPG Rise, an impact investment fund from the US private equity investment firm.

Neuron7.ai: Enterprise tech startup Neuron7.ai raised $44 million in a funding round led by US-based investment firm Smith Point Capital, with participation from existing investors Nexus Venture Partners and Battery Ventures.

Giva: Jewellery brand Giva closed its extended series B funding round, raising Rs 255 crore (around $30.3 million), led by Premji Invest. New investors Epiq Capital, Edelweiss Discover Fund, and the company’s top management joining the round.

Everstage: Software-as-a-service (SaaS) startup Everstage raised $30 million in a funding round led by Eight Roads Ventures, with participation from existing investors Elevation Capital and 3one4 Capital.
