Marquette’s Office of University Relations, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Research Foundation and the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Office of Technology Development will jointly host the “First Look Forum” on Thursday, April 20, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rockwell Automation, Inc. (1201 South 2nd St.).

University inventors will explain how they are transforming early-stage university discoveries into products and services for public benefit to a diverse audience of university personnel, business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs. Providing an occasion to guide our technologies and companies to the marketplace, the event also raises awareness of the excellent research at Marquette and provides valuable networking opportunities with the regional innovation ecosystem.
What exciting, new technologies are brewing in Milwaukee? The event’s featured speakers will share their exciting technologies providing solutions to unmet needs.
Paul Jones, vice president of University Relations and General Counsel at Marquette, will deliver opening remarks. Chuck Swoboda, author, speaker, innovator-in-residence and trustee emeritus at Marquette and executive chairman of Vast Therapeutics, will moderate the event. Swoboda served as chairman and CEO of Cree for 16 years, when his team successfully led the LED lighting revolution.
Antonio Martins, a Ph.D. student in Dr. Daniel Zitomer’s lab, will present on “A Novel Anaerobic Biotechnology for Energy Conservation in Municipal Wastewater Treatment,” and Sahara Adhikari, a graduate student in Dr. Yong Bai’s lab, will present on “Building Façade Inspection Using Drones and AI.”
