Football: Bagley defeats Menahga for first win – Park Rapids Enterprise


BAGLEY – An 80-yard touchdown run to open the scoring sparked Bagley to a 27-8 Mid Northwest (Valley Plains West) District win over the Menahga football team on Friday, Sept. 29.

After the Flyers made it 13-0 on a 35-yard TD pass in the second quarter, Quinn Foley’s 25-yard TD reception from Bodie Berttunen cut the gap to 13-6 at the half.

A 9-yard TD run gave Bagley a 20-6 lead before Dean Torma recorded a safety to make it 20-8 in the third quarter. The Flyers sealed the win with a 13-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Menahga finished with 159 yards offensively with Berttunen completing 4 of 16 passes for 73 yards and rushing 11 times for 39 yards. Conrad Koll gained 33 yards on six carries and Cooper Hasbargen gained 28 yards on five attempts with Foley catching three passes for 66 yards.

Leading Menahga’s defense were Hasbargen with 11 tackles and Thomas Pietila with 10 tackles.

The loss dropped Menahga to 1-3 in the district and 1-4 overall while the Flyers improved to 1-3 in district play and 1-4 overall.
