The financial instability threatens hospital closures or layoffs, according to a Boston Globe report. The landlord, Medical Properties Trust, is an Alabama-based real estate firm that bought Steward hospital buildings and land from Steward — including Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Morton Hospital in Taunton and St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River — and in turn leases them back to Steward. These two may hold Brockton’s record for knockouts
Rocky Marciano administered 43 knockouts. Marvin Hagler had 52. They’ve got nothing on Dr. Scott Stewart and Nurse Elizabeth Brady. The chief of anesthesiology and certified registered nurse anesthetist have knocked out more than 100,000 people in their 34 years working side-by-side at Good Samaritan Medical Center. That’s an estimate from the hospital’s president, Matthew Hesketh. It’s probably an undercount. Dr. Scott Stewart and Nurse Brady both plan to retire this year.

“I’m not super comfortable in situations like this,” joked Raynham Police Det. Louis Pacheco as he accepted a special recognition award from the town for his years of service both with the department and with the youth in the community. The Jan. 23 Selectmen’s meeting was overflowing with town officials, peers, students and family of Pacheco — so much so that many had to stand outside the meeting room as they were at capacity inside. Selectmen Chair Patricia Riley remarked this may very well be the “largest crowd we’ve ever had,” in this room.
