3.45PM UPDATE: Google News is slowly springing back into life with users now seeing contnet back in their online feeds.
ORGINAL STORY: If you are trying and failing to see anything in your Google News feed you are not alone. It seems the search giant is having some major issues this lunchtime, May 31, with thousands seeing a blank page when using this popular service. The gremlins appear to have started around 1pm and are still ongoing.
Down Detector, which monitors outages across the globe, is showing a spike in the number of reports that Google News is currently offline and not working.
When users try and access the platform they are met by an image of an upside-down ice cream and a message that reads, “Uh-oh! Something went wrong. Please try again.”
Google fans have also taken to X, formerly Twitter, to vent their frustration with one fan named Carlton saying, “Google news feed appears to be down.”
Another, called Protopop Games added, “Something must be busted @googlenews.”
There’s currently no word on what is causing the problems or when they will be fixed but it seems the issues are affecting users across the globe.
For those not already aware, Google News is a popular news aggregator. Those who use it will see a continuous flow of articles being published by sites such as Express.co.uk. This feed can also be set to show topics that interest you. It’s available across numerous platforms such as web browsers on PCs, phones and tablets.
This is a breaking story, more follows.
