Google Pixel 9a could have some new surprises for the market when it launches next year. Multiple rumours have emerged regarding its potential features. A report indicates that the Pixel 9a will undergo a significant camera “downgrade,” replacing the previous 64MP main camera of the Pixel 8a with a new primary sensor.
According to a report from Android Headlines, the Pixel 9a is expected to feature a 48MP primary camera, similar to that found in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which is Google’s latest foldable model. Despite the lower resolution, the new main camera’s wider aperture is expected to produce high-quality photographs.
The report also suggests that the Pixel 9a may include a 13MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP front-facing camera, mirroring its predecessor, the Pixel 8a. It is also expected to feature Google’s new ‘Add Me’ camera function, introduced with the Pixel 9 earlier this year. This AI-powered capability allows users to capture group shots without leaving out the designated photographer.
The Google Pixel 9a is expected to launch in early 2025, with pre-orders starting in March 2025. The device is expected to be slightly taller than its predecessor, measuring around 154.7 x 73.2 x 8.9 mm. It is also likely to feature a 6.3-inch display and a flat camera module on the rear.
Furthermore, reports indicate that the device will be available in four colour options — porcelain (white), iris (bluish-purple), obsidian (black) and peony (pink). The Pixel 9a is believed to run on Android 15 and be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset. Notably, Google is expected to provide seven years of Android updates for the new Pixel 9a.
In India, the Pixel 9a is likely to be launched at a price of Rs 49,999, making it an ideal option for those searching for a premium experience without going over budget. Talking about the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, it costs Rs 1,72,999 in the Indian market for the lone 256GB storage variant.
