Specialist hospitality workers recruitment platform Brigad is planning to expand outside of London and into the other major cities, UK managing director Nicholas Ferrary says.
Through its eponymous app, French hospitality recruitment group Brigad connects hotels like Claridge’s, restaurant chains such as The Breakfast Club, and caterers like Thomas Franks with chefs, bar staff and other freelancer hospitality professionals. Workers select the jobs they want to take on.
Ferrary said: “We’ve been focussing on London so far, but we have plans to expand to Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and other major cities in the next 12 months.”
He added that demand for workers is increasing ahead of this summer’s Euro 2024 football championships and that restaurants are struggling to find people to work in kitchens, with demand high for chefs of all types, as well as other roles like kitchen porters.
Since it was founded in 2016, Brigad has helped more than 20,000 hospitality professionals and 10,000 plus businesses in the UK and France. Hospitality workers select the employers and shifts they want to work and can choose to be paid either weekly or at the end of their placement. If they chose the latter, they receive their money within 72 hours.
