A TESLA driver has slammed the brand’s self-driving function after it nearly caused him to crash.
Kyle Krueger took to TikTok to share his terrifying experience and call on the manufacturer to make major improvements.
Back in March, he posted a clip testing the “better than ever” update to the self-driving system.
In theory, the futuristic tech should allow drivers to sit back and relax while the car does all the work.
Unfortunately, his trip didn’t quite go to plan.
In the video, Kyle came to a junction which the Telsa Model 3 managed “perfectly”.
However, once it turned onto the dual carriageway, it made two attempts to change lanes when it wasn’t supposed to.
This included one occasion where the steering wheel jerked violently to the right as the car pulled up to a left-hand turn, almost causing Kyle to pull into oncoming traffic.
He exclaimed: “No, no, no, you’re not going to want to change lanes.
“Nope, it still wants to get over to the right and I’m not sure why.”
Thankfully, the system allows the driver to instantly take over by grabbing the steering wheel or pressing the brake to protect against issues like this.
Kyle quickly got back on track, while the £42,000 EV negotiated the rest of the journey with ease.
Social media commenters were stunned by the mishap.
One wrote: “Self driving is crazy.”
Another added: “I’d never be able to do that comfortably.
“If I have to pay attention I might as well be driving.”
And a third said: “This is unbelievably scary.”
Tesla has been contacted for comment.
It comes after EV drivers were given an urgent warning over a major issue putting their cars’ security at risk.
Meanwhile, a motorist who bought the cheapest EV he could revealed just how terrible it actually was.
