Inland Master Chorale will open its 44th season with a concert of music by Beethoven and Ralph Vaughan Williams 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, in Memorial Chapel on the University of Redlands campus.
The program features Beethoven’s Mass in C and Vaughan Williams’ “Dona Nobis Pacem,” which draws from biblical texts, a political speech, the Mass and poems of Walt Whitman. Both will be performed with soloists and orchestra.
Inland Master Chorale’s season will continue with a concert version of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas, the Musical,” Dec. 17; and ““A Night at the Opera,” with choruses, arias and duets from operas by Mozart, Bizet, Verdi and more, May 19. Both concerts are 4 p.m. in the University of Redlands Memorial Chapel.
In addition to its three-concert season, the chorale will join in a University of Redlands performance of “Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín” 7 p.m. March 16 in Memorial Chapel. That performance will tell the story of Rafael Schächter and prisoners in the Terezín concentration camp during the Holocaust who used music and art as an act of defiance to maintain their humanity, dignity, hope and inspiration, according to a news release.
Joseph Modica, who directs the 80-member Inland Master Chorale, is also director of the School of Performing Arts and the Conservatory of Music at the University of Redlands.
The chorale’s assistant director is Zachary Krug, who is choir director at Vista Murrieta High School. Sophie Tait, a graduate of the University of Redlands, is the chorale’s pianist.
Tickets for the chorale’s three-concert season are $75 for adults and $30 for students and children. Individual concert tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door and $10 for students and children. Children younger than 5 are not admitted.
